I have a broad and deep knowledge across the IT estate, this includes Infrastructure, Platforms, Service Management, Security and Big Data. My passion and drive is to ensure the best integration of technology to solve business problems.
Over my career I have worked literally from the ground up, starting with installing voice and network cabling, commissioning and supporting network switches and telephone exchanges, to supporting and designing Unix and Windows servers, SAN storage and Data Protection solutions for Nortel Networks Opto-electronics Business unit, which included being part of the `tiger team` that ensured operational readiness for Y2K.
On joining CSC I landed straight into a `Center of Excellence` role which enabled me to work across our largest clients, supporting the design and implementation of High Availability infrastructure and platform solutions. One of the biggest opportunities which came my way was as the lead engineer on the largest IT Health project for 5 yrs with the NHS NPfIT Project, designing and commissioning the storage, backup and disaster recovery solution, to ensure we met the stringent business SLA’s that surrounded the data and operation of the applications.
Following my time with the NHS project I moved into Portfolio Management, defining and developing CSC’s repeatable solutions in the platform area, covering Servers, Storage, Mainframe & Data Centers. During this time i developed and brought several offerings to market, which continue to this day to be our lead with solutions, such as Storage as a Service, Data Centre Assessment and was directly engaged in CSC’s first development of it’s Dynamic Server offering which led to CSC’s Cloud Architecture and direction.
For three years I moved to the business application and process end of the IT spectrum. I became the Chief Architect for CSC’s new emerging Big Data & Analytic Business incubator unit. I lead the creation of the reference architectures and product standards, which have enabled the Business Unit to create repeatable offerings and solutions to meet the market requirements. I was also engaged in the acquisition of the Infochimps company, a start-up company, who’s product was differentiated in the market place, providing a managed Big Data solution. As part of this activity i on-boarded the team and developed CSC’s Big Data Platform as a Service solution and launched this to market within eight months of the acquisition
Currently I am working for our `Office of the CTO` leading our Technology Portfolio Integration. Working across all business units and supporting the Technology and Offering community. The purpose of this role is to enable the integration and interlock of offerings and guide solution investment, to ensure that we continue to develop and deliver Next Generation solutions to our clients. CSC is operating a Global, Cross Business Unit Technology Transformation, I am leading and supporting multiple threads and works streams, to enable CSC to be a differentiated Systems Integrator and Service Provider.
In 2014, I was asked to represent CSC as one of the Ingenious Minds within the organisation, a great honour and privilege to be asked, and to be alongside some of the great minds and thinkers within the business, I would ask you to take a look around and see the depth and breadth of knowledge in this unique community.
